Lager leading Kinder by under 1,000 votes

Sen. Brad Lager, R-Savannah, holds a slim lead in the Republican lieutenant governor's race with 11,824 votes to 10,833 for incumbent Peter Kinder.

In the three-way race for secretary of state, Scott Rupp is leading with 8,706 votes. Bill Stouffer and his dog Duke are second with 7,700, and Shane Schoeller has 7,300.

Dave Spence appears almost certain to be the Republican governor candidate. He has more than twice as many votes as the rest of the candidates combined.

Todd Akin continues to lead the U. S. Senate race with 11,588 votes to 10,114 for John Brunner and 9,826 for Sarah Steelman.
