GateHouse Media continues to right size its way to oblivion

It used to be called firing people, then it became laying off and later downsizing.

All much kinder, gentler terms, but the simple fact is people lose their jobs.

The latest euphemism, used by GateHouse Media, owner of the Carthage Press, Neosho Daily News, and Pittsburg Morning Sun, in its quarterly report filed Friday with the SEC, is right size.

As in, we have to fire a lot of poeple to get to the right size.

The following snippet is taken from the report:

"The company has engaged in a series of individual restructuring programs, designed primarily to right size the company employee base, consolidate facilities and improve its operation."
The only ones who have managed to benefit from this approach at this point have been top company officials, who have continued to rake in their bonuses even as they continue to "right size" people into unemployment.

Just more corporate spin. A little straight talk please. GateHouse, you're firing people, plain and simple, not that they've done anything wrong, of course, but because the revenue is no longer there to offset the costs associated with these nice folks. Rick Nichols.
